The Science Behind the Protection
A water-based antimicrobial technology that bonds to surfaces — protecting hands and spaces from pathogens, and helping extend the shelf life of fresh food.
The Zoono Difference
Most antimicrobial products evaporate or wash away. Zoono bonds — creating a durable protective layer that keeps working long after application.
Covalent Bonding
Unlike conventional sanitisers that evaporate on contact, Zoono forms a covalent bond with the applied surface. This creates a durable, long-lasting antimicrobial layer that remains active — rather than washing or wearing away.
One Molecule, Dual Purpose
The same antimicrobial technology that protects hands and surfaces is now applied to food packaging. ZOONO XTEND helps extend the shelf life of fresh produce — one molecule, two frontiers of protection.
Evidence-Backed
Over 100 independent lab reports confirm Zoono's efficacy across skin, surfaces, and fabrics. More than 50 active trial projects are underway with leading retailers and food producers across eight key markets.
Compliant
Non-toxic, non-leaching, and dermatologically tested. ZOONO XTEND is compliant with UK and EU food contact material regulations — designed to be safe for people and produce alike.
How Zoono Works
A simple three-step process creates a durable antimicrobial layer that keeps protecting — on skin, surfaces, and food packaging.
Apply
A water-based formulation containing a quaternary ammonium compound — 99% purified, deionised water and an antimicrobial derived from natural sand — is applied to the target surface.
Bond
Once dry, the formulation forms a covalent bond with the surface. This creates a durable protective layer that does not wash off, leach, or transfer — it stays where you put it.
Protect
The bonded layer inhibits the growth of bacteria, mould, and other microorganisms — on skin for up to 24 hours, on surfaces for longer, and on food packaging to help extend shelf life.
The Pin & Balloon Principle
Under a microscope, the bonded layer resembles a bed of tiny pins. When microorganisms land on the treated surface, these molecular "pins" attract, pierce, and disrupt them — much like a pin popping a balloon. The pins are fixed in place, so the protection is mechanical rather than chemical, and the layer remains active without releasing toxins.
One Molecule, Two Frontiers
The same antimicrobial science that protects people and spaces is now helping reduce food waste across the supply chain.
